In 1980, Greg Fulwood started Universal Concepts as a commercial decorating company located in Atlanta, Georgia. The business quickly grew to serve cities ranging from large metropolitan areas to small, one-stop-light towns.

Further expansion followed with the addition of shopping centers, malls, colleges, universities, amusement parks, resorts, park and recreation associations, downtown development authorities, chambers of commerce, merchant associations, zoos, botanical gardens, hotels, movie sets, and more.
